Tongues

28 Aug

I remember watching a t.v. chat show where an American actress (a Texan if I recall) was being teased about the fact that American’s can’t easily pronounce the word ‘mirror’. She gave it her best shot and uttered something like “mirrr – errr”

More recently I heard someone say that German’s can’t say ‘sqirrel’ (“schquivverull…”)

And Jim, my Father-in-Law, a Scot, struggles to pronounce ‘burglar alarm’ – (“barrrr-glarrrr-allarrrrm”)

I’m just wondering what word I might be accused of not being able to pronounce properly, what about the Black Country way of saying ‘hello’ (owamyermomon?)
